String Quartets by Elena Kats-Chernin
ACACIA QUARTET's career took off when world-renowned composer Elena Kats-Chernin heard them perform her music in 2011 and asked them to record her entire works for string quartet. After extensive rehearsals under her supervision, Acacia recorded over 90 minutes on a double CD for Vexation840.
The resulting album 'BLUE SILENCE' was a very well received and earned them a nomination for an APRA Arts Music Award for Excellence, ABC National Radio's 'CD of the Week' along with 4.5 stars and 'Ediotr's Choice' in Limelight magazine.
Kats-Chernin's music is popular for the way she cleverly combines light-heartedness with melancholy and blends elements of tango, ragtime, klezmer and Bach. Don't miss this unique chance to hear Acacia perform their superb 'BLUE SILENCE' album LIVE at the Utzon Room!
