Topic: Understanding Motivation by Emily Ap

(Emily Ap our Suzuki Piano Teacher lectures at the Institute of Early Childhood, Macquarie University. Her doctoral research is in child development and socio-cultural issues associated with young children learning music)

A question often asked by parents is "How do I get my child to practise?"  This talk encourages parents to think about how motivation works.  We will discuss what happens when we emphasize rewards, and explore the importance of fostering children's autonomy, interests and creating meaningful learning environments.

The upcoming free parent talks are a great opportunity for you to find out how to make the most of the Suzuki Teaching Method for your Child. All members are welcome to attend and to bring any other interested parents and family. No booking required.

These are offered throughout the year at our various events as well as at our institute at Thornleigh. The Lecturers are our most experienced teachers of Suzuki Method and will from time to time include other community members with special knowledge of child development and current education theories.
